All UNSW e-mail accounts have an ‘official address’ and an optional ‘user friendly address’ (or alias). Your official e-mail address looks like z1231456@student.unsw.edu.au whilst your user friendly alias will look like J.Lin@student.unsw.edu.au. Either can be used interchangeably.
