Act 3, scene 1, the sword fight when Tybalt provoked Romeo. “Romeo and Juliet” is not just a great romance, it is also a great action play. All the swordplay and violence make it possible to have dramatic choreographed fights. In this scene, Tybalt picks a fight with Romeo: Romeo tries to make friends with Tybalt, since he’s Juliet’s cousin; Mercutio [Romeo’s best friend] loses his temper at Tybalt’s insults and attacks him. Romeo tries to stop the fight, and Tybalt kills Mercutio; whereupon Romeo fights and kills Tybalt. It’s a great action scene and great for posters.
