For individuals that have optometrist jobs, a typical workday will involve a great deal of patient care. Optometrists will meet patients based on appointments, and they will also make time for emergency services. When a patient first comes in to see the optometrist, she will typically talk about the patient’s vision. After the optometrist asks some questions, she will conduct a variety of tests designed to gauge the quality of the patient’s vision. If the vision is impaired, she will determine what type of glasses or contacts the patient needs. She might also recommend surgery for the patient and give him a referral to a surgeon.
