What is a typical workday for a Windsor Firefighter?
The Station Captain assigns station duties to the crew for that day. Duties include apparatus and equipment checking/maintenance, station and grounds maintenance, cleaning, monitoring the dispatch radio, fire pre-planning and station tours. Windsor Firefighters also participate in public relation events and in-service training. The in-service training involves classroom instruction and hands-on training at the fire station and/or at the Training Division. Emergency incidents will and do interrupt assigned duties. Emergency incidents include but are not limited to residential fires, commercial fires, vehicle fires, brush fires and trash fires, fire alarms, motor vehicle accidents, medical emergencies and response to Hazardous Materials incidents.
