What is a typical day studying Civil or Environmental Engineering at UCL like?
We keep our students fairly busy. It is best to imagine that you will have to commit yourself 9-5 most days to the course. Don’t imagine though that you would be attending lectures for 8 hours a day though. The timetable involves a variety of activities as well as time set aside for working on problem-solving and design exercises. A typical day might involve 2 or 3 lectures, a tutorial class or maybe time to work on exercises and perhaps a 2 or 3 hour laboratory session. The “scenario weeks” (described in one of the other answers) will keep you very busy for several week long spells. UCL students have no timetabled work on Wednesday afternoons and very little in the way of organised activities in week 7 of the first two terms.
