As you can imagine, building and testing advanced prototypes gives the engineers a lot of opportunities to follow the entire development process, beginning with brainstorming new architectures, sitting in the office designing, building and testing in the lab, then going to sites scattered around the country to perform field tests. Each engineer is expected (and encouraged) to participate in all phases of development. Our engineers are very diverse and rarely get pigeon-holed into one specialized area. Typically, a small team is formed (with the right mix of software and hardware talents) which works very closely together on a project from conception to final test and sell-off.
