What is a typical day at camp like?
A typical day at camp is spent participating in a series of structured activities ranging from individual nature hikes to games of capture the flag with the entire camp. The mornings are spent focusing on nature education activities and the afternoons are spent on more traditional summer camp activities. There are several opportunities for free time to allow the camper to participate in various choice activities or just hang-out with their friends. (i.e. kayaking, basketball, arts & crafts etc…) All activities are supervised by staff.
A. Middle School Band, High School Band, Honors Wind Ensemble, Middle School String Orchestra, High School Harp: Residential campers are woken up by counselors. Campers and counselors eat breakfast as a group and then walk to the School of Music together. All campers spend mornings in instructional time (rehearsals and/or sectionals). All campers are escorted by counselors back to the dorm for lunch. The afternoon is spent in rehearsals/master classes/sectionals (depending on camp). Next, all campers have afternoon recreation time. Students are allowed to choose from a list of supervised activities (such as TX Union Underground arcade and bowling; campers interested in the TX Union Underground should bring cash–admission is approximately $6 for bowling and billiards; the arcade is coin-operated). Commuter campers depart after recreation time, and residential campers eat dinner in the dorm as a group. Evening recreation is always a camp-wide activity. Past activities have included movi
The key to understanding your day is to understand your campers’ day. Your day will almost completely mirror theirs. Your time will be split from teaching skills, to participating in some ridiculous game, to sharing insights from the Bible.
