What is a typical aircraft mechanic workday like?
Due to the scope of aircraft mechanic work performed and the wide variety of aircraft components worked on, there is no one typical day that aircraft mechanics can expect. However, there are some general workday similarities among skilled aircraft mechanics to note. Aircraft mechanics most often work in a large aircraft hangar or factory where aircraft parts are manufactured, repaired, modified and assembled into planes and jets. They most often work in uncomfortable environments that may be exposed to the elements, in tight spaces within aircraft chambers or around the heat of soldering devices and loud assembly equipment. Most aircraft mechanics work for up to twelve hours per shift and may work many days without time off due to project deadlines.
