What is a tubeless tire?
A tyre may or may not have an inner air tube. If it has one, it is a “tube type” tyre: a thin-walled air tube will contain pressurised air under airtight conditions. If a tyre does not have an air tube, it is called “tubeless”. In this case, the tyre itself will contain pressurised air, and ensure airtight conditions with its outer edges pressed against the wheel wall. The main difference becomes obvious in the event of a puncture: tubeless tyres will deflate less quickly, and therefore, less dangerously.
