What is a “tripos”?

0

Basically, a tripos in Cambridge is what a “subject” is everywhere else. Students enrol on a tripos (be it Natural Sciences, Computer Science, History, Law,…) and take the exams in that subject. Some triposes share lecture courses (especially in the first and final years). Transferring between triposes is possible, and usually done at the discretion of the College concerned.
