What is a TRIAC?
A TRIAC is an electronic switch inside the thermostat that turns a baseboard on or off. Because a TRIAC has no moving parts, it can operate on 15-second cycles. (Conventional, or mechanical thermostats, operate on 15-minute cycles.) This enables an Aube TRIAC thermostat to adjust the temperature as necessary every 15 seconds, virtually eliminating temperature swings. (With Aube TRIAC thermostats, the temperature stays 0.15C / 0.27F of setting.
