What is a travelling library?
Each formatted citation in your Word document is saved with field codes that embed reference information in the document. The document contains a ‘travelling library’ of references cited. The travelling library allows someone else to work on a Word document even if the EndNote library file is not present. The bibliography can be reformatted from the travelling library. Some fields are not included, i.e. abstract and notes. This feature does not work when the citations are unformatted. You can export the travelling library from someone else’s document and add to your own EndNote library. Or you can create a smaller Endnote library based on the subset of formatted references contained within your own document.
