WHAT IS A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY PROGRAM?
TBI (traumatic brain injury) is any damage to the brain caused by external physical force such as motor vehicle accidents, falls, sports injuries, assaults, gunshot wounds and may also result from other acute medical and clinical conditions. People with TBI may experience temporary or permanent difficulties with language, thinking, memory, attention, judgment, problem-solving and fatigue. OUR TBI SERVICES: A Traumatic Brain Injury Service Coordinator will assist the waiver participant in identifying and coordinating rehabilitation supports and services. INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS TRAINING One-on-one support is provided to focus on increasing independence in practical skills, such as cooking, shopping, banking, etc. TBI rehabilitation Services may include: assessment, training and supervision of, or assistance to, an individual who had brain injury and needs training in any of the following: self-care, task completion, communication, medication management, community transportation skills
