What is a Transurethral Resection of a Bladder Tumor (TURBT)?
TURBT is a surgical procedure where the doctor removes the tumor from the bladder. What can I expect after surgery Catheter: You will have a drainage tube (Foley catheter) in your bladder. This is a small tube that is placed into the bladder during surgery to drain urine from the bladder. This catheter is kept in place by a small balloon that is inflated with water to keep it inside the bladder. Please feel free to move about in bed. Foley Bag: This is a special drainage bag for your urine, which is attached to the foley catheter. This bag will stay with you as long as you have a catheter. You must be careful to hold the bag below your waist. This is done to prevent the urine from flowing back into your bladder. When you are out of bed, carry the foley bag by the string as if it were a purse. Your nurse will remind you.
