What is a transient and how are does TDG address them?
A transient is a short-lived oscillation in a system caused by a sudden change of voltage or current or load. TDG has addressed the threat of transients in railcars by creating our LED drivers with a protection against some transients. Our drivers are rated for: 12 VDC Driver has a nominal of 12 VDC with a max transient capacity of 22 VDC to not exceed 1 second 72 VDC Driver has a nominal of 72 VDC with a max transient capacity of 122 VDC to not exceed 1 second 120 VAC Driver has a nominal of 120 VAC with a max transient capacity of 170 VAC to not exceed 1 second In some application where transients exceed even these voltage levels, TDG offers a system of surge suppressor’s custom designed to meet your needs.
