What is a transfer credit evaluation?
JMU produces a transfer credit evaluation for each admitted transfer student. The transfer credit evaluation shows how each class you have completed will transfer to JMU. If you are in the process of completing courses, it will tell you how those courses will likely transfer to JMU. Please note only courses for which grades of “C” or above will be evaluated for transfer. JMU will not accept courses with a grade of “C-” or below.
A transfer credit evaluation shows transferred courses with ASU equivalents, transferred courses without ASU equivalents, and courses that did not transfer. The Registrar’s Office evaluates and enters into BANNER the student’s work attempted at other accredited institutions from official transcripts. D grades will transfer for any course in which a D is acceptable for ASU students. Coursework taken at the lower division (e.g. 1000 or 2000 level courses) cannot be transferred into a course which ASU teaches at the upper division (3000 or higher) level. For example, ‘Principles of Marketing’ taken at a junior college cannot be used in lieu of ASU’s MKTG3700. The Registrar’s Office sends a copy of the evaluation to the student and to the advising department.
