You have three choices…read a famous poem that seems strange to you, write a short poem of your own, or write a letter to your grandmother telling her that her husband (your grandfather) is on his way to meet her and to tell him how happy you are that they’ll be together again, but that you still miss them both. Keep it short, maybe a single paragraph, starting out “dear grandma”, and ending with “love, (your name)”. Trust me when I say that a simple, non-rhyming letter written to her will make sure there isn’t a dry eye in the house and will allow you to say “exactly” what you’d want the two of them to hear without sounding contrived, forced or silly”. I know you were thinking of a poem…but please consider the “dear grandma” letter, it will be easier to write and will have a far greater affect on everyone there at the service. my condolences.
