What is a theme and who do I talk to about my research ideas?
A research theme is defined as two or more studies that have a common topic area. At least one of these studies will be funded from an external source or through own account funding. Current themes are: Psychotic experiences Dementia NIHR portfolio studies (resource generating) Substance misuse Commercial (income generating) Children & Adolescents Trauma There are also a handful of emerging themes. The reason for this is that the Trust aspires to be instigating and leading research studies and programmes that can impact upon the development of theory and practice nationally. This aspiration will only become a reality if we successfully attract funding from grant awarding bodies such as the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and the Medical Research Council (MRC). The likelihood of applying for grants will be enhanced if research infrastructure and expertise are shared within specific topic areas.
