A terminal adapter or MTA, is provided free with the service and allows you to use a standard or cordless telephone to make calls over your broadband Internet connection. If you are using a standard telephone with your NetSpeak service, you need a NetSpeak terminal adapter. (Note- Your standard telephone plugs into the MTA via the RJ11 cable and the MTA in turn is connected to your Ethernet modem via an Ethernet (RJ45) Cable) The customer owns the MTA.
