What is a temporary licence (TL) and why is one required?
To practise nursing in Nova Scotia, the RN Act (2006), requires a person to be entered in the Colleges Register, the class of active-practising registrants and hold a current licence. However, if employment is obtained prior to meeting this criteria, a person can be issued a temporary licence, allowing the holder to practise nursing until eligible for entry on the Register and issuance of a current licence. The temporary licence allows the holder to use the designation Nurse or nurse and provides professional liability coverage.
