The TEA certificate verifies the applicant is enrolled in a public school, home school, private school or GED. program. The certificate is required for original applicants and when the expiration date of the driver license is going to be extended for individuals under the age of 18. TEA certificates are effective for 30 days after issuance in the spring and fall semesters and for 90 days during the summer. 37 Texas Administrative Code 15.39.
