WHAT IS A TAX FILE NUMBER DECLARATION FORM?
This is the form you fill in when you start work that registers you and your employer with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). What is also very important, it is this document that determines where your paper work goes that you need to reclaim your taxback. EXAMPLE: TAX FILE NUMBER DECLARATION FORM You will notice two different colours. Yellow and Red. Your employer will give you this form and you are to fill in the yellow section and your employer fills in the red section. Your employer tears off this page and sends it into the Australian Taxation Office. Where it goes wrong for the traveller is when you try to collect your tax papers. Whatever address you put in Point 6 is where your employer will send your PAYG (P45) / Statement of Earnings. If you fill in a hostel / unit address you are sharing with 100’s of other’s, when you leave, this is where your tax document will go and there is very little chance of your flat mates / hostel reception manager forwarding this onto you.
