A T1 connection is a VERY FAST connection to the Internet. A T1 line is dedicated, meaning that it is always on and there are no per minute charges. You do not need to dial in. The connection is always active. With a T1 line, you can provide dozens of computers with Internet access without modems, telephone lines, and dialup accounts for each one. A T1 provides approximately 1500k of bandwidth as compared to a 28.8k modem. What this means is that 10 computers can simultaneously access the Internet and each have 150k of bandwidth (5 times what they’d have with 28.8 modems). Given that most access is not simultaneous, you can easily support 100 or more computers with one T1 line.
