A System Access Fee (SAF) is monthly fee charged to help cover the costs associated with the ongoing operation, maintenance and upgrading of the wireless network. The fee is not required by nor collected for the federal government or any of its agencies.

The System Access Fee is a monthly charge from the carriers to their customers to cover various operational costs associated with the operation, expansion and maintenance of our network. Generally the charge is $6.95 per month but there are some regional disparities.
