What is a Sworn Translator and when does he/she take part?
Sworn Translators are Professional Graduates qualified to translate from a foreign language into Spanish and vice versa. He/she works as a freelancer and certifies the faithfulness of the translation with an authority similar to that of a notary public. Our legislation establishes that a Sworn translator must take part when documents coming from foreign countries are submitted to State Authorities and when documents issued in Uruguay are submitted in foreign counties. Some examples of these documents are: Certified copies of birth and death certificates, certificates of studies, letters rogatory, judgments, personal documents, commercial and financial documents, university degrees, agreements, patents, trademarks, powers of attorney, passports, wills, insurance policies, warrants, checks, promissory notes, bills of exchange, public deeds, affidavits, bills of lading, etc. Relevant information: In order for the official translation to be valid, the original document must be duly authent
