SWIFT is the financial industry-owned co-operative supplying secure, standardised messaging services and interface software to 7,800 financial institutions in more than 200 countries. So put simply it is the payment system that pretty much every bank in the world uses to send and receive money across borders. European nations use the IBAN systemwhen making transfers between each other but payments to and from any country outside the European Union use the SWIFT system. Each bank has its own code and quite often will have different codes for different sections or branches. Your bank will be able to tell you what your SWIFT code is. When sending your details to EGS for a SWIFT transfer, be sure to enter all the details correctly.
