A Sweetheart Scam (Internet Love Scam) is where a victim is targeted through a dating site or similar. After sending a few messages, the scammer then defies all sense and claims to be madly in love with the victim. This is usually followed by love poems and e-cards. This has been extended to sending gifts to the victim in order to show their love.
