What Is A Supercapacitor Battery And Who Manufactures Them?
A supercapacitor is simply a large capacitor that can hold a significant charge and, when needed, release the charge rapidly. They are sometimes referred to as supercaps. I do not think that they are technically a battery but they do, at times, perform the same function. In hydrogen fuel cell powered automobiles there might be a supercap storing up the voltage created during braking for later use. Honda, in their latest fuel cell auto, has replaced the supercap with a rechargeable lithium battery. They did this to save space and reduce weight. Supercaps are available from several manufacturers.
