What is a subwatershed study?
Subwatershed planning is an integrated, ecosystem approach to land use planning using the boundaries of a subwatershed. It attempts to balance environmental protection, conservation and restoration with development and land use practices to ensure long-term ecological sustainability of the subwatershed’s natural resources. Subwatershed planning is a cooperative effort of stakeholders, municipalities and government agencies to create a long-term management plan for resources within the subwatershed. Community input and support is very important to the success of the plan.
