What is a Subterranean Termite?
A subterranean termite is a type of termite that dwells in nests or colonies in the soil. Because they live in the soil, they are called subterranean. This type of termite is considered as the most destructive termite. Their colonies have three forms, namely, reproductives, workers and soldiers. The workers compose the largest number in a colony. As the word suggests, the worker kind do all the work of the colony. They feed other forms or castes; they make tunnels and groom the queen. They are also the ones chewing and eating the wood. Subterranean termite loves to attack dead trees and brush. Once the area is cleared of the dead trees and when new houses are built in the same area, they attack the house.
