What is a substitute job? What happens when distill or import fails for a job?
Whenever ArcLog Distiller fails at successfully creating XML output for a job or at bulk loading that output, it will create a substitute XML job to replace it, with session number 20001, and an ArcLogStatus of B=Not Distilled. This substitute XML job will be bulkloaded into the database. If ArcLog Distiller failed at bulk loading the original XML job, then the original job will be renamed, if possible, so that the contents may be analyzed and help troubleshoot the problem. So, for example, if the backup server is ZODAY and the job file is J0000457.log, and the original XML output was thusly named ZODAY.J0000457.xml, it will be renamed to ZODAY.J0000457.bad.xml before a substitute ZODAY.J0000457.xml file is created.
