Muscle relaxers have a much lower risk than any kind of painkiller with hydrocodone (like Vicodin). But even Vicodin has a very, VERY low dose of hydrocodone (it’s mostly acetaminophen, which is the active ingredient in Tylenol). The acetaminophen makes you sick to your stomach if you try to take too much, so you can’t get very “high” off of it. Plus, if you don’t want to get hooked, you could take an even higher dosage of hydrocodone, and not develop a dependency. I’ve found that if you can take a low-dose narcotic pain reliever (like Vicodin) without abusing it, it is very helpful in alleviating the pain for a short time, which is enough time to do some otherwise painful stretches, which can really, REALLY help the pain.
