What is a spotlight product and when does one appear?
A spotlight product is a special item that will appear in Nook’s shop, he will post a message about it on the Message Board and he will let you know when you walk in the door. They are somewhat rare, and will only occur if you create another character (or have created a character sometime previously in the town). Although it is said they appear more commonly if you create another character. Others say the trick to getting them is to buy few or no items from Nook. Spotlight items can only be obtained this way or from Shooting Stars. (Shooting Stars will give out one random spotlight item (mailed), including the throne.
