What is a sponsor certificate?
A sponsor certificate is a statement by the pastor of the parish in which you are registered: (1) that you are a member of the parish, (2) that you are practicing your faith, and (3) that you have been baptized and confirmed and so are qualified to act as a sponsor for the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation. To have your baby baptized in a Catholic church in which you are not registered requires the permission of your pastor. Back to Top of Page • I want to send my children to a Catholic school. What do I do? Providing Catholic religious education for your children is an important responsibility for Catholic parents. Parishioners of the Cathedral Parish may send their children to Central Catholic Elementary School and/or Bishop McCort High School. For more information contact Mrs. Lois Ryan, principal at Central Catholic Elementary School (814-536-1532), or
