What is a Spoiled Ballot?
Spoiled Ballots are ballots that will not be counted on election day. We want to hear your voice on election day, so please be sure to mark your ballot carefully and clearly, with an X preferrably, in the circle beside the name of your candidate of choice. As long as it is clear which candidate you are voting for, technically you can mark your ballot with a cross, an X, a check mark, or a line. In a provincial election, your ballot will identify the candidates running in your electoral district (constituency). You can vote for only one candidate. Marking more than one circle in any way may spoil your ballot. Placing any marks on the ballot that could identify a voter will spoil your ballot as well. Writing in the name of a candidate or party not identified on the ballot will spoil your ballot, unless a space is provided for a write-in.
