What is a Special Topics flight course?

A special topics course is a course that we create for a student to finish a flight rating under FAR Part 61. This course has no structure to it; you and your flight instructor will fly until you meet the FAR Part 61 minimums and become proficient enough to pass the FAA Checkride. In order to take the checkride in this course the student must fly with an FAA Designated Examiner (DE). The student is responsible for paying the DE.
