For this years (98/99) competition, a “sortie” consists of (1) loading the payload; (2) take-off, downwind leg with 360 degree turn, landing, taxi back to starting line; and (3) unloading the payload. Teams may complete as many cycles of this “sortie” as possible within their given 10 minute competition time period. • Question: Can we have two or more sets of wheels which we can interchange during the competition, if the first set wears out quickly. Answer: The rules allow “moderate” servicing between flights. You may change wheels provided you can do so within the time period for your flights.

For this years (00/01) competition there are two different sorties, a heavy payload sortie and a voluminous payload sortie. Teams may complete as many cycles of theses “sorties” as possible within their given 10 minute competition time period. The paylaod “type” must switch for each new sortie.
