What is a soil report?
A soil report is a sub-surface deep boring or borings that is conducted by a qualified and registered testing laboratory who specializes in soil investigations. These type of soil investigations are done to determine your specific site soil characteristics and to determine if the soil has sufficient support necessary along with its characteristics which will effect the performance of any foundation system. Soil reports are now required and mandated per IBC and IRC code guidelines. These soil investigations and reports need to be done in an effort to compute and calculate the type of soil present along with other necessary characteristics which will ensure proper foundation performance and then the engineering of the foundation thereby hopefully avoiding structural failure from the lack of providing this soil data. A soil testing laboratory will arrange to make a site visit on your site and then obtain a deep soil boring or additional boring depending on what soil is encountered. These
