What is a “slough” as in “Steamboat Slough”?
A slough is a river, basically. Steamboat Slough is a short cut between Rio Vista and Sacramento, if traveling by boat. It is at least 8 to 20 feet deep at low tides all along Steamboat Slough, and in front of the Snug Harbor docks, it runs 12 to 17 feet deep, depending on the tides and time of year.
