Unlike Skywards Miles, which are the programmes reward currency and those used to redeem rewards, tier Miles are collected solely to help you move up the membership tiers. The only time you can earn tier Miles is when you fly with Emirates. When you earn the required number of tier Miles, you will progress up the programme tiers to Skywards Silver and Skywards Gold membership. Tier Miles are earned and accumulated in any consecutive 12-13 month period.
