What is a simple definition of communism that an 8th grader can understand?
Communism is a form of government where one dictator (someone who makes himself the only ruler and has no rules) changes everything so that everyone in the entire country is equal. Unfortunately this means equally poor (everybody is poor) because the government and its employees take all of the money. The people cannot do anything though because generally the government takes away all/most of their rights as well. To speak out against a communist government could and usually does mean death/jail.
