What is a similarity between a progressive wave and a standing/stationary wave?

So called standing wave or stationary wave is time to time sum of two progressive waves travelling in opposite directions. Because of this many differences are seen between them than similarity. As you want only one simlarity I would say that in both cases particles of the medium vibrate with same frequency. You may ask me what about nodes we can say that they also vibrate with same frequency but zero amplitude.
