What is a shroud pin?
Until the middle of the nineteenth century people generally were not buried in their clothes, but large sheets called shrouds were wrapped around them. These sheets were held together often at the head with little copper pins we call “shroud pins.” A number of these were found. Since buttons were found, it is likely that some people were buried in clothes (with or without shrouds).
