What is a short lived cloud called? What happens to it and why do the clouds sometimes disappear in the sky?
The only short lived cloud that we name is the ‘short-lived’ contrail. To understand why clouds disappear you should first understand how clouds form. Clouds form by the condensation or freezing of water vapor, which depends on the temperature and humidity of the air. Once a cloud forms the sun’s rays may heat up the cloud, and cause the tiny droplets forming the cloud to become water vapor again and vanish before your very eyes. This effect can happen to all cloud types, at low, mid, and high levels. However, these short-lived clouds still take the regular name, such as cumulus or cirrus.
