What is a sexual minority according to Regent University?
That’s a good question since a purusal of the so-called “institute” web site never defines the term that I could find. The institute appears to mostly serve a few purposes and provides: (1) a marketing venue for books and works by Professor Yarhouse and some of his anti-gay compatriots, (2) an appearance of scientific as opposed to purely religious basis for the anti-gay jihad of the Christian Right, including Prof. Yarhouse, and (3) a reference for anti-gay politicians and Christianist organizations to cite when they falsely allege that sexual orientation is a choice. Having been on the Regent campus on several occasions for seminars or events – the school donates space and resources in an attempt to improve its negative image among locals – and read some of the anti-gay trash that its faculty puts out, trusting the staff of the institute to properly analyze sexual orientation is akin to having a witch doctor perform open heart surgery.
