What is a Seven String Guitar?
As the name suggests, a seven string guitar has seven strings rather than the traditional six. That part, you could probably have guessed for yourself. However, you may not know that just like a six stringed guitar, the seven string comes in a range of styles and produces a variety of sounds. The History of Seven Stringed Guitars The guitar is quite simply one of the world’s oldest instruments and therefore has a history dating back from almost as far as music itself. During the Renaissance, guitars were strung in four sets of pairs (these pairs of strings were called courses). Then, during the Baroque period, the number increased to five sets of pairs or courses. This number increased again and by the 1700s, six courses were standard for most guitars. However, in the 19th century, things changed and the six pairs became just six single strings. This soon became standard practice for all guitar makers. Nevertheless, it seems that instrument makers and guitarists always strove to improv
