What is a session cookie?
A. Cookies are a mechanism used by Web sites to store information entered by users. Some of our tools require the use of session cookies to function and provide you with information tailored to your needs. Session cookies reside on Web browsers and have no expiry date. These cookies cannot retrieve information from your hard-drive. In other words, no one who might examine your cookies would be able to use them to perform transactions on our Web site as you. Our cookies are not disk-resident (also called persistent cookies). They are stored in your browser for only one session and will be deleted as soon as your browser is closed.
A session cookie (also called per-session cookie) is a text-only string that gets entered into the memory of your browser. The value of this string is set by our Web site programs when you visit. Session cookies help us make sure that only you have access to your tax information. Other recommendations: We recommend that you have a printer available to print a copy of your tax return for your records. We also recommend that JavaScript be enabled, but it is not required. The default browser settings should have JavaScript enabled. Depending on your system configuration and options you select, your PC may or may not be able to use the Ohio I-File application.
To use our order list feature, your browser needs to accept “Session Cookies”. This cookie is used by us to keep track of the contents of your order list and does not contain any personally identifiable information. It is safe to accept Cookies and when your order is placed or you close your browser, the cookie is destroyed.
