What is a service endpoint?
A service endpoint is a set of elements contained in a Service element inside an XRD that describe a concrete network endpoint at which to obtain further metadata or otherwise interact with the resource described by the XRD. These elements include: Typean IRI specifying the type of the service. MediaTypea string that specifies the media type supported by this endpoint (for use in HTTP(S) content negotation). URIan IRI that specifies the concrete network endpoint at which to obtain this service. An unlimited number of services can be defined using the contents of these elements without the need to extend the XRD schema. The XRI resolution protocol itself is defined via a set of service endpoint types.
A service endpoint (often abbreviated SEP) is a set of elements contained inside a Service element that describe a concrete network endpoint at which to obtain further metadata or otherwise interact with the resource described by the XRD. SEP elements include: • Type – an XRI, IRI, or URI specifying the type of the service. • MediaType – a string that specifies a media type supported by this endpoint (for use in HTTP(S) content negotation). • URI – an URI that specifies the concrete network endpoint at which to obtain this service. An unlimited number of services can be defined using the contents of these elements without the need to extend the XRD schema. The XRI resolution protocol itself is defined via a set of service endpoint types.
