What is a self-cleaning oven?
Be sure you take everything off of your stove top and out of the drawer beneath the oven. Everything gets extremely hot! You may even want to take the racks out of the oven – I didn’t in my old oven and the cleaning process very noticeably dulled them. I have always removed them in the oven I have now, and just wash them in the sink. I prefer to clean the oven later in the evening when everyone is out of the kitchen and the outside temperature is cooler. In the morning just wipe the ash with a damp sponge.
