What is a secondary source?
A secondary source is a story retold or reprinted by someone who was not present at the original event. It is a reliable source based upon information that may have been interpreted, evaluated, shortened, lengthened, edited, or compiled by a person living at a later time. A historical fiction book or video is a secondary source because it is based on a fictitious story with a factual background. While many of the characters were real people, some characters were not real.
